African Development Bank Group to Construct State-of-the-Art Headquarters in Abidjan
The African Development Bank Group’s Boards of Directors have approved the construction of a state-of-the-art headquarters in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire's commercial capital. This decision reflects the Bank’s commitment to maintaining its strong presence in the region while providing a modern, supportive work environment for its staff. Unanimously endorsed by the executive directors, the initiative underscores the importance of investing in a workspace that prioritizes staff well-being and aligns with the Bank’s operational excellence. Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank Group and Chairman of the Boards of Directors, hailed the decision as a historic milestone. He stated: “This is a great day for the African Development Bank Group. It marks the realization of a vision I had when elected as President in 2015: to establish a headquarters that reflects the Bank’s global reputation and commitment to Africa’s development. This project enhances our operational efficiency, staff welfare, and workplace experience while reinforcing our dedication to green growth, energy efficiency, and safety.” The new headquarters will offer advanced facilities to engage shareholders and stakeholders effectively, supporting the Bank’s mission to drive Africa’s development. Adama Koné, Dean of the Bank Group’s Boards of Directors and Côte d’Ivoire’s representative, presented the title deed for the construction site to Dr. Adesina on behalf of the Ivorian government. Dr. Adesina expressed gratitude to President Alassane Ouattara and the government for their unwavering support, emphasizing: “The Boards’ decision today solidifies our presence in Côte d’Ivoire—our home now and in the future. We anticipate continued strong support as we embark on this transformative project.” This landmark development symbolizes the African Development Bank’s dedication to fostering sustainable growth and prosperity across the continent.
